2009 Sand Sculptures

In late summer of 2009, visitors to Garfield Park witnessed the assembly of a series of sand sculptures being sculpted in the open area just outside the rear, or west side, of the Garfield Park Arts Center.
The outdoor display area was surrounded by a chain link fence the day I visited it, Aug. 1, as the sculptures were still under construction. GPAC would later collect admission fees from the public to walk inside the display area to better examine and appreciate the sand sculptures in detail.
All of these images were taken while the sculptures were being assembled. I poked my lens through the small openings in the chain link fence to get these pictures.
