It has been only since April 1991 that Indianapolis Fire Department Station 29 has been an official part of Garfield Park.
For 75 years before that, going back to Dec. 3, 1915, the station had been located outside park boundaries at 2302 Shelby Street, slightly more than a half-mile east of the new location, 602 E. Pleasant Run Parkway, North Drive.
A straight-on view of the station, seen from Tickle Belly Hill (a future chapter is dedicated to this), appears immediately below, followed by shots from several other angles, finishing with partial views from the building's north side, catching some autumn color reflections in the windows.
