There are no lack of places to worship
near downtown Holly Springs

Like most towns, Holly Spring, N.C., has several churches in or in the vicinity of the original downtown area.

I photographed two Baptist churches and a Methodist church in the immediate downtown area and a United Church of Christ just to the north on 3rd Street. I also came across a century-old building at 300 Rogers Street -- across Main Street from the Town Hall Commons development occupired by Kirk of Holly Springs Presbyterian.

When I was there last week, there was heavy construction going on in and around the property (perhaps related to the nearby Town Hall Commons development). A member of the church leadership team whom I contacted assured me that services continue to be held there on Sundays, despite the construction activity.

Kirk's website says that it is a "satellite" campus of Kirk of Kildaire Presbyterian in Cary. The website indicates Kirk of Holly Springs began renting the property in March 2018 from its previous occupant, Holly Springs United Church of Christ (see more about this church below), which now operates from facilities on 3rd Street next door to the new post office.

The first church I came upon while doing my walk-through the down area on April 11 is pictured in the lead-off image, the front facade for Holly Springs United Methodist Church. I couldn't access the complete exterior because heavy equipment operators were working on repaving the church parking lot. But I did get shots from a couple angles, including the distance perspective shot you see immediately below. One appreciates this view when walking from the Cultural Center building on West Ballentine Road toward Town Hall.

As always, to view a larger, sharper version of a photo, simply click on the image. This is particularly helpful when accessing the blog from a mobile device. To see a full gallery of my Holly Spring church images, click on the link in this sentence.

Photo geek stuff: I did the entire shoot using my Canon 6D and Tamron 28-300mm f/3.5-6.3 Di VC PZD lens equipped with a polarizing filter. I made three exposures of each composition to meld into one image during post-processing using Photomatix high-dynamic range (HDR) software.
