Return to Myrtle Beach, Part III:
Huntington Beach State Park

After you've been to Atalaya Castle in Huntington Beach State Park, the rest of the park consists of the beach (depicted in the photo leading off the post), a large community building, a developed meadow area that includes very nice playground equipment, and some trails and ponds for the area wildlife to enjoy.

We spent the vast majority of our time at the castle, so there area a lot of photos devoted to the actual park by comparison. But I'll present the best of those in this post.

As always, to view a larger, sharper version of a photo, simply click on it. To view a full gallery of images from the park shoot (not including Atalaya Castle), click on the link in this sentence.

The two-level community building (above), followed (immediately below) by a perspective shots of the playground with the community in the background, followed (second below) by a shot of the meadow area looking toward the beach as seen from the upper level of the community building.

Above is a sign and caution flag (for swimmers) we approached on the walk up toward the beach. Below is another look at the beach -- which has remarkable white sand -- with some wild grass integrated in the composition.

Above and first three below: Different views, taken from an overlook, of a pond quite a ways from the playground and community building.

We followed a trail near the pond, and came across the scenes you see above and for the remainder of this post, including another look at the pond and a gull or egret I spied and tried to follow with the camera for a short distance.

Above and next four below: We came across these interesting growths in a wooded area along a trail near the big pond above that we followed for about a half-mile.
