Visit to historic Coydon, Ind.
Part V: Harrison County Arts center

Harrison County Arts organized in 2005 as a non-profit group created to nurture the arts and provide place for artists in Corydon, Ind., and Harrison County to meet and display their work. After a brief time operating in a building at 117 E. Chestnut St., right next door to Butt Drugs, the group found larger space across the street and moved into its new quarters in May 2022.

I learned about how recent the new location for the artisan center was only after I visited it at the end of June and in early July when Lee Ann and I went there to see the monthlong exhibit, on the building's upper level, of Lee Ann's cousin Linda Kay Shoults, a painter and member of the arts group.

I presented some of Linda Kay's work in the previous post. This post is devoted to other works that were on exhibit, primarily on the building's main floor, including the one leading off the post. In almost all cases, I did not note the artist's names or descriptions of their work.

As a collector of Santa figurines, I was particularly interested in the four Santa wood carvings you see here by Dave Schotter. And while each figurine has a Schotter business card, curiously none of these carvings was listed for sale.
