Striking architecture used for Temple of Pentecost Church in Raleigh

On the west side of Lake Wheeler Road, a few blocks north of Tryon Road in Raleigh, stands the Temple of Pentecost, an Apostolic Church affiliated with the United Pentecostal Church International. In 2028, the congregation will mark its 50th year in Raleigh.

I stopped there on Aug. 30 to collect the photos you see in this post. In my years in Raleigh, I passed this church about a dozen or so times, mostly en route to the State Farmers Market north of there, just beyond the I-40 overpass.

The main building’s architecture always caught my eye on those many pass-bys. I had no luck in an online search trying to ascertain the exact style of architecture the church uses. But I did find a blurb indicating the frame is wood and steel and the inside covers 10,890 square feet.

To get the full width view of the structure you see in the photo leading off the post, I had to cross to the east side of Lake Wheeler Road. The gray colored structure on the far left is a building that I presume serves as the fellowship hall and is situated behind the church structure. A front shot of that building appears in the penultimate photo of the post.

I’ll present smaller snippets of the building below.
